Emerging Australian pop trio Blusher today return with the release of their electrifying new single ‘Somebody New’.
It is the latest in a wave of incredible single releases from the band this year and is another synthpop gem, with a glorious pure pop feel, addictive beat and a format that plays with the traditional pop song structure, its distorted, abstract chorus resembling a traditional middle eight breakdown. It is a thrilling and exciting deviation on the first listen that will have you wanting to immediately experience it again and again.
Lyrically the song looks at the paradox of leaving a relationship but wanting to throw yourself immediately into a new one. ‘I didn’t do my makeup just to cry,’ they sing.
“‘Somebody New’ is our fun, flirty mantra that mirrors the cycle of breaking up, rebounding, swearing off love, and knowing you’ll do it all over again,” Blusher say. “Mostly, it’s a love song to the friends who are by your side through the whole process. Late nights out with your new crush, first kisses in the club followed by tears on the dancefloor - whatever stage of the cycle you’re in at the moment, we wrote this song to be the soundtrack.”
After the release of ‘Somebody New’ Blusher will be playing their long awaited first ever headline shows in Australia in December. They will be performing at The Lansdowne in Sydney on 4 December followed by the Northcote Social Club in Melbourne on 5 December. Tickets are on sale now.
Since releasing their debut single ‘Softly Spoken’ at the beginning of 2022, Blusher have become one of Australia’s most promising pop bands, with a uber cool synthpop sound that has just the right mix of throwback vibes and contemporary beats. With their songs attracting streams in the millions, they have also made inroads globally, performing as support acts for global superstars including Tove Lo and Aurora in Australia, and Daði Freyr in the UK, Europe and North America. This year they also performed extensively through the UK including in Leicester Square for London Pride, at BST Hyde Park headlined by Kylie Minogue, at Latitude Festival, and also their debut London headline show. True pop superstars in the making. ‘Somebody New’ is the perfect way to round off the year, with undoubtedly more Blusher brilliance to come ion 2025.
