Summer Camp Festival returns for 2023 with Jessie Ware announced as first headliner

Summer Camp Festival - a safe space of love and celebration for the Queer community and their allies, where everyone is welcome no matter your preference or pronouns - is returning to Melbourne and Sydney in 2023. Today they announce their first headline act will be superstar Jessie Ware - watch her video message below.

The festival will be Ware’s first shows in Australia in ten years, and comes off the back of some of the most successful years of her career. Her 2020 album What’s Your Pleasure? and its 2021 re-release The Platinum Pleasure Edition was her highest ever charting album in the UK. Earlier this year she released the follow up album, That! Feels Good! - recently nominated for the 2023 Mercury Prize Album of the Year award - that shot to number 3 in the UK and solidified Ware’s reputation as the premiere dance-disco queen of the music world, with feel good, lushly produced songs that lean into dancepop, soul, disco, funk and R&B.

To tie in with the announcement of her return to Australia, Ware has just released her new single and video ‘Freak Me Now’. Produced by Stuart Price (Madonna, Kylie Minogue), is a decadent disco-funk track with a infectious beat that pulls you irresistibly towards the dancefloor. The fan favourite album track has been given a revamp and this new version features a guest appearance from Roísín Murphy.

With over 2.5 billion streams and six top 10 UK albums to her name, Ware is one of music’s most charismatic and thrilling artists and her performance at Summer Camp Festival is sure to be your end of year highlight. Ticket details will be released shortly, sign up at www.summercampfestival.com.au to stay up to date.
