Sydnee Carter teams up with Oscar Dawson on new single 'Rewind'

Perth’s Sydnee Carter has returned with new single ‘Rewind’, her first new music since last year. Co-written and produced with electropop duo Chymes, the single features Oscar Dawson, better known as part of the band Holy Holy.

Featuring acoustic guitar mixed in with a shuffling electronic beat, ‘Rewind’ is a beautiful, melancholic track that examines struggling to cope with life when it gets difficult and evolves into something you never thought it would be - ‘Didn’t think it would be this hard…when did I get dealt these cards?’ Carter sings.

“When we sat down to write ‘Rewind’, I was feeling very nostalgic about how easy being a child was and how growing up isn’t as amazing as you think it will be,” Carter says. “There’s a lot of emotional and physical ups and downs as you mature and become an adult and it was at a point in my life where I was reflecting on how easy it used to be, and how we don’t appreciate it when we are in the moment/ too young to appreciate it.”

Carter is an artist who has shown remarkable growth in the past 12 months. Her debut for TMRW Music, last year’s ‘Bruises’, was an impressive, mellow pop-R&B track and ‘Rewind’ builds on that promises. A multi-Western Australian Music (WAM) Award winner, Carter has a talent to create warm, personal, relatable and moving music that remains accessible and infused with beautiful melodies, harmonies and feels. Expect more impressive music from Carter coming up this year and into the future.

‘Rewind’ is out now via TMRW Music. You can buy and stream here.
