Carla Wehbe releases new single 'Life's An Awful Mess'

Rising star Carla Wehbe returns today with the release of her new single ‘Life’s An Awful Mess’, her first new music since April’s ‘Sideshow’

Written by Wehbe and Ben Oldland, who both also co-produced alongside Robby De Sa, ‘Life’s An Awful Mess’ is a upbeat pop track overflowing with charisma and addictive melodies, while remaining true to Wehbe’s great strength as an artist - conveying relatable stories with depth and conviction as well as hints of melancholy. The song tells of the contradictions of life and how despite the ups and downs we should simply embrace everything life has to offer.

“‘Life’s An Awful Mess’ is about the contradictory nature of life, and how it can be so terrible in one moment and magical in the next,” Wehbe says. “It's also about accepting the inevitable finality that life will face and realising that it’s all not that serious when you take a step back. We’re all doing our best, and while some of us are killing this whole life thing, some of us are still bringing swords to pillow fights. Life is everything and nothing at all, but in seeing the beauty in it and accepting it - flaws and all, maybe someday we can learn the art of living.”

‘Life’s An Awful Mess’ is another high point in an incredible 2024 for Wehbe. She released the Reimagined EP in March, which featured re-recordings of three of her previous releases, followed by the slow burn single ‘Sideshow’. She also performed as support act for superstars G-Flip and Peach PRC, and in October she will support UK artist Beth McCarthy on her Australian tour.

With each new release, Wehbe has continued to show just why she has become one of Australia’s brightest young artists. Ever since her debut single ‘Don’t Tell Me’ was released in 2020, her artistry has continued to evolve and strengthen as she explores new genres and ways of telling her stories.
